Traffic Safety Near Schools and Parks
The City of Redmond is seeking community feedback to enhance safety near schools and parks through potential measures. Speed safety cameras are a form of automated traffic enforcement that issue citations (first with a warning) to drivers who violate the posted speed limit. They have been endorsed as a “proven safety countermeasure” by the Federal Highway Administration and have been implemented in many cities in Washington, including Bellevue, Kirkland, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, and Seattle. Redmond's speed safety camera program will be subject to the Revised Code of Washington 46.63.220, which requires all revenue to be directed to making street safety improvements. Your input will help us better understand community needs and concerns.
