Project Description:

The City of Redmond continues to focus on transportation safety for all users and abilities through the development of a Safety Action Plan, adding depth and detail to the City’s Local Road Safety Plan. The City is conducting a Road Safety Assessment (RSA) by partnering with the community to identify transportation safety issues, particularly for vulnerable users, such as pedestrians and bicyclists. Road Safety Assessments will include community input to identify concerns and develop potential solutions. 

How can you get involved?

We want to hear from you! We are hosting a Community Road Safety Assessment on Saturday May 11th, from 12-2pm. It will be a two-hour walking event where attendees will learn and share ideas with transportation safety engineers and planners.

What is a road safety assessment?

What is the goal of the Community Road Safety Assessment?

We want to encourage community members to join the road safety assessment to share their thoughts, experiences and ideas to help improve road safety in the community. You live on these streets every day, and we want to know how we can make travelling better for you and your neighbors.

When and where will it be located?

The Community RSA will start at 12 pm (noon) on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, and end at 2 pm. We will be walking in the Education Hill Neighborhood, but the specific meeting location will be determined at a later date.

How long will the community road safety assessment be?

It will involve walking in the Education Hill Neighborhood for approximately two hours. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Everyone is welcome! The route will be accessible for wheelchairs users, strollers and persons with walkers. If you require a translator, please notify us by May 1st.

Can this count as community service hours for my High School?

Yes! If you are a student attending a high school in the City of Redmond, please bring your community service hours form and we will fill it out at the end of the RSA.
