Inviting Stakeholder Review and Feedback on Amendments to the
Redmond Zoning Code

During August 2022, project stakeholder and the community completed review and provided feedback on draft proposed amendments to the City's development regulations. Staff invite your additional review, comments, and input during November and December to help us prepare for formal review by the Planning Commission and City Council in 2023.

Please refer to the "Share Feedback" below for an overview of amendment topics and to review and comment on proposed amendments.

Though the open house events are complete for 2022, continue sharing your feedback through January 13, 2023 (extended date).

  • Open House virtual via TEAMS due to winter weather
  • Open Houses at City Hall - drop in as time allows
    • December 7, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
    • December 8, from noon to 1:00 p.m.
  • Virtual Technical Testing on TEAMS, December 5, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., to work with staff while exploring development scenarios based on draft code. Register for this hands-on event by emailing Principal Planner Kimberly Dietz.

The amendments are in draft form; your feedback will help staff ensure the code's accuracy and ease of use. The City Council's action is anticipated during Q3-Q4 2023.

Project Background

During 2021 - 2023, Phase 2 of the Redmond Zoning Code ReWrite will continue streamlining the City's development regulations and begin their reorganization. This phase involves relocating portions of the code, amending provisions for alignment with citywide priorities, and focusing all updates through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The first phase involved a "foundational" updates to the code including basic streamlining, strengthening the code's foundation in support of affordable housing, improving clarity and conciseness, and enhancing economic development opportunities and flexibility.

At the tenth anniversary of the last significant rewriting, this is multi-year project to improve code clarity and conciseness and to coordinate with other City actions including the Housing Action Plan, Comprehensive Plan periodic update (2050), and a periodic update to the Transportation Master Plan and other functional plans.
