Since its adoption in 2020, the Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP) has guided city efforts to foster a more sustainable and thriving Redmond. We’ve accomplished a lot together in that time – from the launch of the Energy Smart Eastside heat pump program and historic investments in clean transportation solutions, to the opening of the all-electric Redmond Senior and Community Center it’s been a busy four years!

We've seen firsthand the important role the ESAP plays in aligning City action with our climate and sustainability commitments. That’s why, in the coming year, the City will be refreshing the ESAP to keep it relevant and actionable. With your help, we’ll be creating an updated plan that integrates the latest science, technologies, and policies to help us progress toward our goals. Stay tuned for opportunities to get involved and work together to meet our vision of a sustainable and resilient Redmond.

Climate action can happen in many ways, at any time - from commuting by public transit to electrifying an entire home, or even something as simple as making a promise to yourself to be more intentional about food waste. It can even look like a day in the park, where new faces come together to talk about climate impacts and solutions!

August, community members came together for a picnic at Anderson Park to talk about potential resources the City can provide to support community implementation through the next five years of the Environmental Sustainability Action Plan. Conversations reflected on ways we all can help lead community climate action, and how everyday decisions can be opportunities to take a unifying step toward reaching our climate goals. Participants brought this vision for community climate action to life by signing their names and personal sustainability promises onto a Climate Pledge board, and now you can too! Post your climate pledge in the comment section below and be a part of the movement to build a healthy, resilient, and sustainable Redmond.
