Rooted in Community: Park Restoration Picnic with United Hub

Last month, community stewardship was in full bloom as United Hub and the Green Redmond Partnership co-hosted a "Plant Swap + Picnic" park restoration party. We had a crew of all ages come together to removes invasive plants from Idylwood Park - even recruiting some onlookers throughout the day! Volunteers enjoyed lunch provided by United Hub, presented plants they brought from home to swap with one another, and gave tips on how to best care for them. The event wrapped up with a restorative tai-chi session in the newly restored park, led by a grandmother who had stumbled across the event on a day out with her grandson, both of whom now hold special memories about their spontaneous adventure caring for our natural resources.
